LeBon X: The Most Expensive Shoes

21 Aug

Nike is releasing a new LeBron James shoe, LeBron X, the newest from the most expensive shoe line ever. Already Nike had released the LeBron South Beach 9 which began retailing at $250. The LeBron X is expected to retail at $315 making the Southbeach shoe look more like a bargain. So what could possibly make a shoe worth over $300? Aside from the fact that LeBron wore them while winning Gold at the Olympics this summer, which let’s face it he probably could have done wearing Jordon’s from the 90′s.

The LeBron X is not just a shoe but a vertical leap tracker. Yes it is equipped with Nike+ motion sensors that can track your jumping. Aside from professional basketball players I can’t see why you would need this. It has all the same perks shoe construction perks of a normal LeBron 9 shoe. Oh yeah and the sole lights up so you can match little kids with their light-up sneakers. I have always wondered if adults could pull off light up shoes.

You better move quickly because Nike is only going to make 50,000 of these shoes. For those of you who are pinching pennies you can pick up a pair minus the vertical leap technology for $180.

Trade Talks: So Where is Everyone Going?

14 Jul

It’s been a crazy trading season, like usual, so I have decided to give you an easy rundown on what is happening. Here is your trade cheat sheet.

Boston Celtics

Ray Allen bid farewell to the team in order to warm the bench in South Beach with the Miami Heat. Or as some fans refer to Allen he sold his soul to the devil. But don’t worry the Celtics have managed to hold on to big man Kevin Garnett. I know what you are thinking but Garnett is like 36 but don’t forget he can still do fist push-ups so he’s good for at least another season. The Celtics also managed to hold onto Brandon Bass, Chris Wilcox and Jeff Green. Although Green has been out to due heart surgery he may just be the it scoring factor the Celtics need.

They are still in the process of acquiring Jason Terry from the Dallas Mavericks but the paperwork should be done by the end of the week.  So don’t worry they will be fine without Allen.

The Miami Heat

Obviously the Heat are in a great position. They are coming off their championship win and they have all three major players still in place: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. Now they just have to hope no one gets injured. They are now just padding their bench with veteran players. Allen is the perfect example of this. Joining Allen they added Washington Wizard Rashard Lewis. Both were former Seattle Supersonic players back in the day.

One thing is clear the Heat are looking for another championship win next year.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers obviously need to replace point guard Ramon Sessions since he didn’t intend to return. And aside from that the after being knocked out of the second round of the Playoffs it was obvious something needed to change. So the Lakers brought in veteran Phoenix Sun point guard Steve Nash. We can only hope he is more comfortable on the court than he looked at the ESPY awards the other night. The Lakers also managed to hold onto Devin Ebanks for another year.

Now the question is will the Lakers end up with Dwight Howard? Up until today it was looking like the Houston Rockets were going to get Howard but now the Lakers seem to be back in the mix. There is nothing official about what the deal would look like. Everyone has speculated that Andrew Bynum would be exiting as part of the deal. As a Laker fan I would gladly take Howard over Bynum even if it’s only for a year.

Ray Allen Joining the Heat

7 Jul

This happened much sooner than I expected. I just wrote yesterday that the Heat were courting Ray Allen pretty hard. You know nice dinners, talk of a bright future, maybe the mention of a ring. They gave him the attention he craved. And I guess it worked because Allen has decided to join the Heat.

The crazy part is that the Heat didn’t even have to offer him more money. Allen decided to go with the Heat for $3.09 million a season. The Celtics were promising him $6 million a season. I guess he valued security over a pay day. Apparently Allen wasn’t too happy about being dangled in previous trade deals by the Celtics.

So now Allen knows he will be sitting pretty on the Heat’s bench just waiting to go in and make those crucial 3-pointers as long as his knee holds out.

Ray Allen Going to South Beach?

6 Jul

Boston Celtics’ free-agent guard Ray Allen is exploring his possibilities. Just last night he was wined and dined by the Miami Heat. Allen has spent 5-years with the Celtics and I guess is feeling a little replaced by players like Avery Bradley and Jason Terry. The Heat just acquired Terry after the Davis Mavericks didn’t re-up his contract. This means that the line-up will be Bradley starting and Terry being his back-up. So where does this leave Allen? Either on the bench with the Celtics or the Heat.

The Heat are pushing really hard to sign Allen. Both LeBron James and Dwayne Wade have reached out to him on Twitter. But I were Allen and I wanted to have more playing time the Heat would not be my first choice. Both Minnesota and Memphis are interested in Allen. And although they might not looking appealing now maybe you will warm up to the idea after watching games from the sidelines with the Heat.

Kevin Garnett Staying With the Celtics

30 Jun

Kevin Garnett resigned with the Boston Celtics. Garnett is 36 and there were talks of him retiring. Instead he resigned a three-year contract. The contract is worth $34 million dollars. Unlike some other free-agents from the Celtics Garnett didn’t want to play with anyone but coach Doc Rivers.

The other free-agents on the Celtics are: Ray Allen, Brandon Bass, Marquis Daniels, Keyon Dooling, Jeff Green, Ryan Hollins, Sasha Pavlovic and Mickael Pietrus. The Phoenix Suns are strongly pursing Allen because they will most likely lose their scorers Grant Hill and Steve Nash. The Miami Heat are also pursing Allen. The Celtics want to keep Allen but may have trouble competing with the big bucks the Suns will be slamming down.

Bosh Out of the Olympics

29 Jun

Yesterday Dwayne Wade officially declared he would not be participating in the Olympics due to a knee surgery. Now Chris Bosh is also missing the Olympics in order to heal his abdominal injury. Bosh really wanted to be in the Olympics but felt it was better that he was healed up for the next NBA season. That’s means that LeBron James is going to have to go it alone without his wing-men.

You Took the Words Out of My Mouth

27 Jun

This video is so funny. It literally was my reaction throughout the entire finals. And I know I am supposed to respect LeBron James for winning now but their is still a part of me that wants to be a hater. This video describes it perfectly.

Letterman Gives it to LeBron

27 Jun

I’m not a huge David Letterman fan but it was really nice to see him, in his nice guy way, question LeBron James about leaving Cleveland and the winning the Championship with Miami. My favorite question was, “What do you think it would have been like to win the championship in Cleveland?” James kind of dodges all the questions. Still interesting to watch.

Pacers Say Goodbye to Larry Bird

26 Jun

After Larry Bird was named NBA’s Executive of the Year for his work as president for the Indiana Pacers he is looking to leave. This marks the second time Bird has come in to help the Pacers and then left them to fend for themselves. Before working in the front office Bird coached the Pacers from 1997-2000. The Pacers were just starting to turn around so why leave now?

Many people think it’s because of Bird’s health issues. Bird still suffers from a bad back which makes it hard for him to sit for long hours. As president a lot of his work involves him sitting and reviewing tapes of players or working behind a computer. I think that maybe this contributed some but overall I don’t he was happy with the team.

As you may remember during game 5 against the Heat Bird said the Pacers, “went soft.” I’m not sure what series he was watching but it’s not “soft” when one of your players has caused two Heat players to bleed from the head. Pacer Tyler Hansbrough elbowed both Udonis Haslem and Dwayne Wade in the head. Not to mention Lance Stephenson making choke gestures toward LeBron James while he made free throws. If anything I would say the Pacers played pretty tough, a little too tough. Regardless if the Pacers had made it to the Finals, I don’t think Bird would be stepping down.

How to Date/Sleep With an NBA Player

25 Jun

You ever wonder why there is so much cheating by NBA Players? Just watch the video above. This is the celebration party for the Miami Heat winning the NBA Championship. If you want to hook-up with an NBA player than you need to be a these parties. You can also see with so many hot chicks surrounded these guys how easy it is for them to cheat.

That why if you look carefully you can see Gabriel Union accompanied her man Dwayne Wade to this party, she knows what goes down. Something tells me if the Oklahoma City Thunder had won they wouldn’t be at club party. I mean are there clubs in Oklahoma?
