Ryan Tannehill or Matt Moore: Who Sucks Less?

20 Aug

If you caught any of the pre-season match-up between the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers you know that the Dolphins were struggling. The Dolphins lost the game 23-17. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, 8th overall draft pick, started the game off. Tannehill was 11 of 23 passes for 100 yards. He was also sacked(tackled before he could throw a pass) three times and had four passes deflected(the ball was caught by the other team). Compared to Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton who made 8 of 11 passes for 119 yards and had a touchdown, Tannehill didn’t look good.

But at least Tannehill looked better than veteran QB Matt Moore. Moore played against reserve players and completed only 5 of 15 passes for 57 yards. For the Dolphins it is really a question of who sucked less and the answer is Tannehill. The team is expected to announce within the week which QB will be their starter. The regular football season starts in three short weeks. And the Dolphins have a lot of work to do. They had no blocking from the offensive line which is really their primary job. The Dolphins had no running game which is probably because their offensive line is not blocking. So needless to say Tannehill is going to have a heavy burden if he is named QB.

Armstrong Loses in Court

20 Aug

Seven-time Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, has lost his case against the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. A federal judge in Austin, Texas threw out the lawsuit against the USADA claiming that in fact the USADA has jurisdiction and their claims do not violate Armstrong’s constitutional rights. This means the USADA can keep investigation Armstrong for doping. Armstrong has several options: he can appeal the decision, accept the charges(which means he could lose his titles), or proceed to an arbitration. He will make his decision by Thursday.

The USADA filed charges against Armstrong back in June claiming that he was part of cycling conspiracy where him and 5 other cyclist used banned substances and blood transfusions to get ahead. Even the judge rejecting Armstrong’s case was skeptical of the USADA’s claims nothing that they were not very specific. Regardless the USADA does still have the right to bring the claims.

It is time’s like these that I wonder why we are spending tax payers money to try to rip apart the legacy of a hero and cancer survivor. Even if Armstrong did dope, does it really matter now? If they could catch him the seven times he won the Tour de France then what makes them think they will catch him after the fact? Just another example of our government hard at work spending our money on a pointless matter.

Hello Augusta. Welcome to Modern Society

20 Aug

Augusta National Golf Club has finally decided to join the rest of us in the 21st century and finally accept women into it’s exclusive club. Okay so they are only accepting two women but you have to start somewhere. The lucky girls are none other than former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina financier Darla Moore. I guess if the two want to have a girls day golfing then they will be forced to go with one another. The Club has been around since 1933. They didn’t accept any black members until 1990.

The club clearly needs a woman’s touch, the famous green jackets are way out of fashion. I mean really when was the last time forest green was a good look for anyone.
