America’s newest sweetheart Gabby Douglas failed to win a medal on the Women’s Individual Uneven Bars competition. So far Douglas has two gold medals, one with her Team USA and the individual all-round. Instead the gold medal went to Russia’s Aliya Mustafina, silver medal to China’s He Kexin and bronze medal to Great Britain’s Beth Tweddle. It was the first gold medal for Russia in gymnastics this year. Douglas did a less hard routine(meaning less points) than Mustafina. So it would have been hard for her to medal even with a perfect performance.
So what happened to the golden girl? Douglas was exhausted. The girl has already won 2 gold medals and has practically been trapped at the gym every day competing for a week now. So let’s cut Douglas some slack. And don’t worry she has another chance for gold on the balance beam on Tuesday.
