Now that the New Jersey Brooklyn Nets have finalized their roaster they are working hard to earn the love of their new fans. The campaign is called “Hello Brooklyn.” The campaign features their big four players and a personalized message. The players include Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, and Gerald Wallace.
Here is what the ads are going to say:
• ”Hello Brooklyn. I’m #8, Deron Williams, three-time NBA All-Star and father of four.”
• ”Hello Brooklyn, I’m #7, Joe Johnson, six-time NBA All-Star and lifelong Razorback.” (Somebody might want to tell him that he’s in New York now they are not the biggest fans of the South.)
• ”Hello Brooklyn, I’m #11, Brook Lopez, 20-point scorer and Batman’s biggest fan.” (You might want to change this one in light of current events. Also, is their nothing more interesting about Lopez than he’s a Batman fan?)
• ”Hello Brooklyn, I’m #45, Gerald Wallace, All-NBA Defender and offseason fisherman.” (Umm yeah fishing, that is really going to connect with people living in Brooklyn.)
I think the advertising firm missed their audience. You are in Brooklyn the home of hipsters. If you truly want to connect then don’t reach out at all. Apathy is like hipster crack.
