Hot dog eating champs all set for July Fourth contest
3 JulHot Olympian of the Day: Giuseppe Lanzone
3 JulIf we learned anything from “The Social Network” it’s that hot popular guys row crew . . . well at least in the ivy world. Today’s hot Olympian is no exception. Peruvian born, Giuseppe Lanzone, is hot and that definitely makes him popular. Lanzone is a member of the USA Rowing team. He was named the 2010 US Rowing Male Athlete of the Year.
Reasons to love Lanzone:
1. When he is not rowing Lanzone likes to surf. He also enjoys sailing.
2. Lanzone lived in Peru until he was 15 and is fluent in Espanol. Don’t pretend foreign languages don’t turn you on.
3. In the last Olympics he did modeling for Ralph Lauren. When he retires from rowing he should go into modeling.
4. He aced his citizenship test meaning he probably knows more about American than you.
5. His biggest influence is his family. Awww. That’s sweet.

The Dwight Howard Wheel Keeps Spinning
3 JulOh where, oh where, will Dwight Howard land. It was reported yesterday that Howard despite having made a commitment for another season with the Orlando Magic very much wished to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets. The problem was that the Nets had just made a very expensive deal with the Atlanta Hawks for Joe Johnson. So it is looking unlikely that the Nets could find a suitable trade to make to the Magic for Howard. There was speculation that the Nets might trade Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and the Nets’ first-round picks in 2013, 2015, and 2017. But it seems unlikely that the Magic’s new GM, Rob Hennigan, would be into that trade. Because after all he is looking for a star to build a team around.
So who does the Magic want for Howard? None other than the Lakers Andrew Bynum. Even though the Lakers just invested a hefty sum into Bynum I think it’s pretty clear they would part with him for Howard. Just back in March the Lakers had put together a trade deal exchanging Bynum for Howard but it never came to fruition.
The only problem with this trade is that Howard and Kobe Bryant don’t see eye to eye. But maybe without enough money and the lure of a major market team Howard can be convinced to swallow his pride.

Serena Still in It
3 JulSerena Williams is moving on the Wimbledon semifinal after beating defending champion Petra Kvitova, 6-3, 7-5. This is the eight time Williams has gone to the semifinals at Wimbledon. I think the feeling never gets old though judging by the look on her face. Next up Williams will face either second-ranked Victoria Azarenka or Tamira Paszek of Austria. I think to be truly good at tennis you must have a complicated foreign name.
Very exciting.
