Lamar Odom a Clipper Again?

28 Jun

Lamar Odom is reportedly moving back to Los Angeles just this time to the Los Angeles Clippers. I was kind of hoping he would be a Laker again but alas that never going to happen. So the trade looks like this: Clipper Mo Williams would go to the Utah Jazz and Dallas Maverick Odom would go to the Clippers. I think this is a really good deal for the Clippers. Odom will be joining a strong team with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

Plus he can move back into Kardashian land.

NBA Draft Recap

28 Jun

The NBA Draft which was held in New Jersey, not sure why they couldn’t be classy like the NFL and have it at Radio City Music Hall. It feels like a college graduation except instead of useless diploma they are handed contracts for thousands of dollars. As you can imagine it is a very emotional event for the players. For the attendees it is a chance to get drunk and boo David Stern which may of them did. Luckily for Stern many years of denial have turned boos into cheers in his mind.

As we speak the draft is still going on but let’s face it only the first 15-20 really matter. After that it becomes what’s his name, where’s he from, and he’s be warming the bench. The big winner of tonight’s draft was of course New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets which amazingly lucked out on getting the first pick took home Kentucky’s Anthony Davis. Luckily I only mock draft for the number 1 pick so I was good.

Here are the picks and my reaction(which you could see first hand if you follow us on Twitter)

1. Anthony Davis (Kentucky) going to New Orleans Hornets. We learned tonight that Davis has trademarked his unibrow which means sadly he will never shave it. I am not sure how exactly you trademark facial hair? Does that mean that James Harden’s beard is trademarked to?

2. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Kentucky) going to Charlotte Bobcats. Kidd-Gilchrist is amazing athlete but let’s face it he’s no Davis. So don’t see much changing for the Bobcats. At least they can’t get any worse.

3. Bradley Beal (Florida) going to Washington Wizards. He apparently has a lot of high character which I think ESPN speak for he is not a thug.

4. Dion Waiters (Syracuse) going to Cleveland Cavaliers. Kyrie Irving should be happy that they got a good player. He’s needed some support for awhile now.

5. Thomas Robinson (Kansas) going to Sacramento Kings. Was really surprised Robinson didn’t go sooner in the draft. He is an amazing player and I think the nicest guy ever. He is helping to take care of his family after his mother’s death. The reporter interviewed his sister after the pick was made and told her that she was moving near Disneyland. Umm yeah Sacramento is kind of far from Disneyland. Too bad David Stern put ax on the Kings moving to the OC, she could have lived in Disneyland.

6. Damian Lillard (Weber) going to Portland Trail Blazers. So still not sure where Weber is or who Lillard is?

7. Harrison Barnes (UNC) going to Golden State Warriors. This is a may be the bright spot on Warriors’ fans day . . . it might just make you forget your coach hooked up with a stripper.

8. Terrence Ross (Washingon) going to the Toronto Raptors. This guy actually didn’t look sad about being drafted to the Raptors. I feel like being drafted to the Raptors is like saying, “You won’t make any real money unless you get good and they trade you or you become a free agent.”

9. Andre Drummond (Connecticut) going to the Detroit Pistons. I honestly forgot about the Pistons.

10. Austin Rivers (Duke) going to the New Orleans Hornets. So yeah now the Hornets might actually have a chance to be a good team. Feels a little like the Oklahoma City Thunder, a lot of young talent.

Hot Olympian of the Day: Danell Leyva

28 Jun

We are all looking for a flexible man, who better than U.S. Olympic gymnast Danell Leyva. This 20-year old Cuban born hottie has a gold medal already from U.S. Nationals in 2011 and is a world champion on the parallel bars. He just might be gay but that’s cool because he’s still hot. If you want more of his hottness you can google image him to see some scandalous photos.

Reasons to love Leyva:

1. He is a Renaissance man. He likes to play piano, draw, and paint.

2. He’s an animal lover. Leyva has dogs and a pet tarantula named Rosie. He likes tarantula’s because the world perceives them differently from what they actually are. That sentiment is so sweet that it actually makes me okay with the whole spider thing.

3. He works with kids with cancer. You can youtube him shaving his head. He did it to sympathize with cancer patients.

4. His stepfather is his coach so family is very important to him.

5. When he’s not at the gym he likes to spend the day at the beach. We have something in common.

No Olympics for Dwayne Wade

28 Jun

In the least shocking news of the day Dwayne Wade has decided not to play in the Olympics so that he can undergo knee surgery. We all saw this coming. I am not saying Wade was not playing through an injury in the playoffs but he is also the same guy who was bitching for not getting paid to play in the Olympics. It cost a lot to buy $500 glasses without frames. If you remember Wade didn’t seem to understand how sponsorship works. You know how they want you to represent their brand in an international venue.

Regardless I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Extorting a Minister

28 Jun

You have to get to a pretty bad place in your life when you are willing to extort a minister. Yes you heard correctly Warrior’s coach Mark Jackson is also an ordained minister. He runs a church with his wife. Six years ago he had an affair with a stripper, Alexis Adams. I guess Adams wasn’t doing too good since retiring from stripping so she decided to blackmail Jackson using nude photographs she had of him. Again men if you are going to have an affair don’t take photos. Helping Adams was a guy named Marcus Shaw who approached Jackson at a hotel on April 3 asking for money to conceal the photos. Like any normal person would do he paid the guy. But Shaw and Adams got greedy and keep asking for more and more money.

They should have just taken the money and been happy because now they are looking at felony charges. I think people forget that extortion is illegal. Don’t worry Jackson became a minister after the affair so it’s all good. Because as we know Christianity cures all desires for strippers.

NBA Draft: Kind of Pointless

28 Jun

If you don’t know today is the NBA Draft. A day when young college players see dollar signs as they give up the chance of an education for the pros. It is also a day when struggling teams like vampires suck their talent hoping to revive their ticket sales. I think the video above captures just how absurd this process is. The draft has become more and more irrelevant in modern days with most teams acquiring talent through trades or free agency.

Everyone has predictions of where people will go. I’m not even going to try to predict. Let’s just say Anthony Davis is going to New Orleans and call it a day.

PS

Will have updates later today on how things panned out.

No Beckham in the Olympics

28 Jun

David Beckham will not be playing soccer for the United States Great Britain in the London Olympics this summer. Beckham who is loved by the media was seen as a shoe in for the team. Just last month he was confirmed for Team GB’s 35-man preliminary squad. But Great Britain team manager Stuart Pearce didn’t see having Beckham as an asset to the team. Apparently Pearce watched Beckham with the LA Galaxy and was not impressed. Beckham is really bummed not to be playing for his home country. And even more bummed are women everywhere and ticket sales for the Olympics.

Pearce would rather have a winning team with a player like defender Micah Richards than a popular team.

Wimbeldon: Sexist Loser & Winners

28 Jun

Wimbeldon is still going on. So here is quick break down of what happens. We will start with the loser.

LOSER

Gilles Simon- The French tennis players seems to think women don’t deserve equal prize money with men at Wimbeldon. Equal prize money has not been in place that long. Simon lost his second round match so I guess he’s jealous. He thinks that because men’s tennis is best of 5 matches(women’s is best of 3) that they should win more money.

He followed it up by saying, “I have the feeling that men’s tennis is actually more interesting than women’s tennis,” he said. “When that Shakira is singing, she is earning more money than most of the men because everyone wants to see her. That’s it.” I’m not sure that singing is a women’s domain . . .cough cough Frank Sinatra.

Maria Sharapova commented back, “”I’m sure there are a few more people that watch my matches than his, so…” And there you have it. Serena Williams added in, “”She’s[Sharapova] way hotter than he is.”Simon tried to come back by saying all male tennis players feel the same way he does. Sure they do.

I’m all for Sharapova killing Simon’s ass on the court.

WINNERS
