Pump it Up for the Finals

19 Jun

I am totally in love with this website Herstar. They have sports themed pumps. And I have to say I’m not a Oklahoma City Thunder fan but I definitely feeling these shoes. The site has special edition pumps for the final four teams, which makes me even madder that the Lakers couldn’t make it that far. They still have Lakers pumps but not as bedazzled. I think as a girl it is hard to express your fandom without looking like a boy so I’m all for some sports themed pumps. You can pick a special edition pair for $274.99 (so just slightly more than the LeBron South Beach shoes but at least these sparkle).

Hargrove: It Wasn’t Me

19 Jun

One thing is clear about New Orleans Saints Bountygate the NFL and Roger Goodell are fighting their case with the press. Monday the NFL gave more evidence out to reports. This time it was a video clip from the 2010 NFC championship game, where a voice made a money comment about injuring then-Viking QB Brett Favre. The NFL is asserting that the voice was former Saints’ defensive end Anthony Hargrove. The clip was part of  the appeal hearing by Hargrove. Today Hargrove is letting the media know that voice was not him. But it’s kind of suspicious that in that same game Hargrove was flagged and later fined $5,000 for a flagrant hit on Favre. No worries Favre returned to play in that game meaning if he was participating in the bounty program Hargrove didn’t get the big reward of a ‘cart-off.’ But he would have still been owed some money for the hit.

Joining Hargrove at the meeting was Will Smith, Scott Fujita and Jonathan Vilma. The NFL is standing by their suspension decisions. But don’t worry Vilma still has his defamation suit against Goodell to get even.

Damn That’s Mean

19 Jun

It is so sad in any divorce proceeding when one parent uses the kids as pawns against the other. That’s seems to have been the case this past Sunday for Dwayne Wade. On Father’s Day Wade was expecting to spend the day with his two sons before Game 3. Instead his former wife, Siohvaughn Wade, decided to keep her sons despite being scheduled for a flight to Miami on Saturday. Siohvaughn obviously isn’t too smart because trying to keep the kids when you don’t have custody rights is child abduction. Now she has lost her visitation rights and is dealing with misdemeanors charges. Luckily Wade is rich and was able to fly the boys on a private jet to Miami Sunday.

He says this didn’t affect him in Game 3 but I doubt that. Wade was off on Sunday and I think this is a good reason. This story just makes me super happy that Wade is dating hottie not crazy, Gabriel Union.

Sharing Sweat With LeBron

19 Jun

I love me some NBA players but I definitely have a line that I won’t cross, it sweat. I will not purchase, touch, or even smell any sports memorabilia that has survived 42 minutes of a grueling basketball game. Let’s face facts sweat is sweat, I don’t care who it falls off of. This Miami fan has different stance. I can just say take the sweat band but for God sakes don’t put it on. Collective ewwww coming on.

Mayweather Rollin in Dough

19 Jun

According to Forbes.com Floyd “Money” Mayweather is the highest-paid athlete with earnings of $85 million. Which makes it seem even more suspicious that he won’t fight Manny Pacquiao because he doesn’t want to split the earnings 50/50. Does Mayweather really need more money? He’s got $85 mil and that wasn’t even enough to bail him out of jail early. The only place Mayweather is beating Pacquiao right now is in earnings. Pacquaio came in second on Forbes list making $62 million. Unlike Pacquaio who is promoted through Top Rank, Mayweather promotes himself so he takes home 50% higher earnings than Pacquaio.

The two boxers managed to knock Tiger Woods off the top earning spot for the first time since 2001. Woods made $59.4 million and that’s after destroying his reputation. I think I would rather be a golfer than a boxer, Woods makes almost all his money through endorsements and doesn’t have to take punches to the face.

LeBron James is fourth on the list with $53 million. So maybe you don’t have to feel as bad for him not having that championship ring. To comfort himself he can always fill his bath tub with money and roll around in it.

Sadly there are only two women in the top 100; Maria Sharapova with $27.9 million and tennis player Li Na with $18.4 million.
