The Spurs I Used to Know

4 Jun

The beginning of the series between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder seems like a million years ago. In Games 1 & 2 The Spurs were undefeated and it seemed like nothing could stop them. Then in Game 4 everything changed and it has me asking, “What happened to the Spurs that I used to know?” I was so desperate for answers that I typed into google, “Why are the Spurs losing?” Not even google had an answer. But recommend other baffling questions I could ask like, “Why are the Kardashians rich?” and “Why are the Irish lucky?” So there you have it, the questions of the Spurs sucking is just as confusing to people as why the Kardashians are rich.

I am in no means a Spurs fan from back in the day, I simply picked them to take home the prize in my bracket. And we all know how loyal I am to my bracket. Monday night’s Game 5 was the chance for the Spurs to rise from the dead and take this series by the balls(literally). But that didn’t happen. In fact the opposite happened. The Spurs lost on their home court for the first time since 2009. The Thunder beat them 108-103.

Roger Goodell is Still Right

4 Jun

It was announced Monday that commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL were in the right when they suspended players for involvement in the New Orleans Saints bounty program. The NFL Players Association had challenged the NFL authority to suspend players for their involvement. Of course the Players Association is going to appeal the decision by the arbitrator. And this doesn’t stop Saints line backer Jonathan Vilma from suing Goodell for defamation in a U.S. District Court in New Orleans. Vilma has a lot of time on his hands because he was given a year-long suspension by Goodell.

Now Vilma’s attorney is saying that the so-called ledger shows no indications of a bounty on certain players. So basically they are saying that although there was a list with names, those don’t indicate a bounty. There argument is that these players just really wanted to keep track of who they were hitting in games and put money on it but that’s not a bounty program. Can you say stretching?

But She Was So Adorable

Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson is retiring at the ripe old age of 20. In 2008 Johnson won 4 medals in Beijing including one gold for the balance beam. Then she took a hiatus from gymnast to focus on being a celebrity. She won the show “Dancing with the Stars.” Johnson was inspired to compete again after a skiing accident blew out her knee. Although she recovered some Johnson has decided to retire because her knee injury is just too serious. That’s a serious bummer. I’m sure they will miss her smile in London this summer.

Tiger Woods is Good Again . . .Finally

4 Jun

We all knew that one day Tiger Woods was going to rise from his prison of cheating husbands back to golf legend. Today was step in the right direction. Woods took home his 73rd win at Memorial Woods. He’s now tied with Jack Nicklaus With 73 PGA Tour wins. But real story is the amazing shot that got him the win. Basically he birdie the ball in from an impossible place on the 16th whole. If you can stand watch more than a minute of golf the clip is below. You know it was amazing because golf fans actually cheered out loud.

Woods finished at 9-under 279 (that means the course is usually 279 par or strokes and he did in 9 less). This Woods 5th win at Memorial. This is his second win of the year and he is now ranked 4th in the world. On a related note to celebrate his agent got a little tipsy and drove himself into a DWI in NY.
