Hello Celtics Welcome Back to the Series

1 Jun

First it was the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday night surging for the win against the San Antonio Spurs. Now it’s the Boston Celtics who practically rose from the dead to overtake the Miami Heat, 101-91. I would like to be able to say that this was a game of Rajon Rondo headband revenge but it actually was a team effort with a lot of help from the bench.  Keyon Dooling came off the Celtics bench in the first quarter to score 7 straight points. It was an exciting game for Kevin Garnett who scored 24 points and proved he can do 8 fist pushups in a row. Rajon Rondo scored 21 points for Celtics which is an obvious drop from 41 in the previous game but I think he’ll take it since they won.

It was a very sad second half for the Heat who at the start of the 4th quarter were trailing by 24 points. Even then I thought maybe they are going to do something amazing but alas all they did was close the gap some. LeBron James scored 24 points for the Heat. James seemed to be struggling when they moved him to the center position towards the end. Dwayne Wade scored 18 points but was missing a lot of shots. Not only was Wade missing shots but for the first time ever he didn’t make it the foul line. Which Heat could have used since they were shooting 10 of 20 from the line.

The Celtics plan was to keep the Heat from scoring and man did it work. Will it work again on Sunday for Game 4, we’ll see.

Mets Have No Hitter. . . Could They Get Fans Next?

1 Jun

Johan Santana pitched the first no hitter in the history of the New York Mets franchise Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals. To put this in perspective they have played 8,020th games since 1962 without a single no hitter game. The Mets beat the Cardinals, 8-0. The no hitter almost didn’t happen when Carlos Beltran hit a line drive (the hitter hits straight out) over third base in the sixth inning that hit the foul line. The ball should have been considered in but wasn’t. Maybe this is a reason they should have instant replay in baseball. But no one really wants to examine this because they are so happy the Mets actually got a no hitter.

Let’s focus on the positive. Mets’ Mike Baxter made a great catch in the left field and ran into the wall in the process. Don’t worry he’s fine now. It was so sad to watch the no hitter game and there are empty seats everywhere. As a Mets’ fan I am very happy for them and maybe this will spark the secret fan base out there.

Ward is Back . . . On TV

1 Jun

It was just March 14 that Hines Ward retired from dancing the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone was very sad to see him go. Now it seems he will be back in the football world. This time he will be analyst for NBC Sports. You can catch him on NBC’s Football Night In America on Sundays and NBC Sports Network’s college football studio show on Saturdays.

Bounty Ledger: We All Saw This Coming

1 Jun

Yahoo Sports just reported that two sources close to the NFL evidence in the Bountygate say there is written ledger of who got paid what for the supposed illegal hits on a weekly basis. So I guess Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma can go ahead and drop that defamation lawsuit against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. I would really like to see this ledger. Apparently it was split into categories like “cart offs,” “whacks,” and “mental errors.” Who saved this ledger? Maybe it was someone who was really proud of their success in the bounty program. I imagine they had it on their fridge next to their kids art. I mean if you were stupid enough to participate in the program than you must be stupid enough not to destroy the key evidence.

All the players were encourage to put earnings from their bounty success to increase the odds. So basically this ledger proves that everyone knew what was going on cough cough Drew Brees. In a letter released to his fans Brees says, ” I did not participate in any Bounty program, nor did I have any knowledge relating to its real existence.” As much as I want to believe Brees I think it is pretty clear the locker room is a small space so how could you not see your teammates placing beats like these? This is not good timing for Brees who is in the middle of a stalemate over his very expensive contract with the Saints. He better hope the evidence doesn’t include his name because that might make his contract negotiations that much harder.

Scholarship Worthy?

1 Jun

Sean Puffy Combs or P. Diddy or Diddy or Puffy or Puff’s son, Justin Combs, has been granted a scholarship to play football at UCLA. Which normally you be saying ‘congrats’? Instead people are saying ‘what the hell.’ The scholarship is worth $54,000 and does not come out of tax payers hard working hands. But still people are outraged that the school is giving a kid a scholarship when his father is worth more than $500 million.

I personally think its great that his son has achieved his own success. What I find stupid is that UCLA thinks that a scholarship is what made him choose their school. Did they also send him a fruit basket? I mean seriously  Justin could have gone anywhere, I don’t think the deciding factor was a measly $54,000 dollar scholarship. Justin got a Maybach worth $360,000 for his 16th birthday, so obviously money is not an issue.

The real way to  rope him they should have been promising him things he can’t buy like playing time, a great team, and a coach he feels comfortable with. I mean really UCLA it was a nice gesture but the fruit basket probably would have had the same effect.

Spurs Sink, Thunder Rise

1 Jun

Thursday night was a lesson learning night. We learned the San Antonio Spurs are beatable, Lil Wayne despite being Lil Wayne cannot get access anywhere he wants at anytime, and that Oklahoma City Thunder have a secret weapon in Thabo Sefolosha. Although the Thunder had the come court advantage in Game 3, no expected them to win by so much. Both teams were tying and keeping up until the 3rd quarter where the Thunder just broke away. The Thunder won 102-82. That is huge when you think this is the first loss for the Spurs who have won the past 20 games.

The Spurs played totally off their game. Their passing was bad and their field shooting was even worse. For the Thunder Sefolosha(every time I say his name I feel like I’m drunk slurring) was key in controlling Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. What interesting is that before last night I couldn’t have picked Sefolosha out of a bench line up. He has literally went from scoring 2 points in Game 2 to scoring 19 points in Game 3.
