Kobe That We Used to Know

24 May

You know that I’m a sucker for musical parodies about sports. This is a little tune called, “Kobe That We Used to Know.” It is a parody of Goyte “Somebody That I Used to Know.” I am on the verge of getting sick of the Goyte song but this brings new life to it.

It’s Getting Hot in Here, Heat Win

24 May

The Miami Heat after 6 games and a lot of fouls are finally moving onto Round 3. Thursday night’s game was probably the best the Indiana Pacers have played. The Heat won, 105-93. It wasn’t until the 4th quarter that the Heat really pulled away from them. Maybe the Pacers were motivated by team President Larry Bird calling them ‘soft’ after Game 5. I don’t know how you can call a team ‘soft’ when they are making choke symbols and causing opposing players to bleed from the head. You have to feel for the Pacers who despite being a solid team are pretty much ignored by the media. I don’t think it’s the team so much as Indiana, it just doesn’t excite the media like Miami or Los Angeles. And really they shouldn’t feel bad because people constantly forget about the Spurs until it’s playoff time.

Regardless it was a fight to till the 4th quarter tonight. David West put up 24 points for the Pacers to lead the pack. Every starter for the Pacers put up double digits. But it was no match for Dwayne Wade who put up an amazing 41 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat. LeBron James had 28 points and 6 rebounds. Even if the Pacers were playing at their best there was no way they could outscore the Heat.

Now the Heat will wait until Monday when they will face either the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia 76ers.

Sanchez Tops Tebow

24 May

The media got it’s first peak at Tim Tebow as a New York Jet Thursday when they were invited to watch training drills. What did everyone think of the amazing Tebow? Not very impressive. Tebow seemed indecisive and was throwing too high. Mark Sanchez the Jet’s actually starter quarterback looked much better. Sanchez looked confident and he had good passes. Maybe this was the Jet’s plan all along to bring Tebow in to motivate Sanchez. If there was ever a time for Sanchez to shine it needs to be now. If Sanchez slips up Tebow will step in.

Foul Trouble for the Heat

24 May

The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacer series is looking more and more like a gladiator death match. Heat forward Udonis Haslem will be suspended for Thursday’s gameĀ  for the smack down on Pacer Tyler Hansbrough. The irony of Haslem’s suspicion is that Hansbrough has successfully caused both Haslem and Dwayne Wade to bleed from the head and has not been suspended. But just like in the court of law since Haslem’s hit seemed intended to cause harm and wasn’t just the byproduct of a play, it merits suspicion.

If that weren’t bad enough for the Heat you have the smack down of Pacer Lance Stephenson by Heat forward Dexter Pittman. Again this is another case of the Heat getting payback. Stephenson in a previous game had given the choke symbol at LeBron James. Pittman in protection of James, flat out clocked Stephenson in the face. You can watch the video it is pretty brutal. Now Pittman will be suspended for 3 games.

I think the Pacers have some kind of strategy to try to get all the Heat’s players suspended for fouling. Otherwise there is no explanation for them provoking these fouls. I mean really Stephenson you are going to threaten James during a nationally broadcast game? I don’t think anyone is that stupid. Regardless of losing players the Heat will most likely win Thursday’s game.

Lamar Odom Want to be a Knick

24 May

Sources are saying that Khloe Kardashian hubby, Lamar Odom, is interested in playing for the New York Knicks. This doesn’t surprise me because Odom is from Queens and New York is a hotbed of Kardashian activity. Since playing so poorly with the Dallas Mavericks (averaging 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds) Odom is being released by the Mavericks. Basically they are going to try to get another team to pick up his contract for the bargain price of $2.4 million by June 30th. If no one picks up Odom then Dallas will pay out the rest of his contract.

No doubt the Knicks would be happy to have Odom as a forward but the real question is can they afford him? The Knicks have $5 million dollars of wiggle room because of salary caps and that’s mostly going for a point guard. Right now the Knicks have their eyes on Clipper Chris Paul or Net Deron Williams. They are going to have to use all their money to lure a big time point guard which leaves no money for Odom.

If I were Odom I would go for the Miami Heat. We already know Khloe loves Miami. And at this point any hope of Odom coming back to Los Angeles seems slim.
