I Thought Canadians Were Peaceful

18 May

This is the most intense sport fight that I have ever seen. It just keeps going and going. Both teams end up fighting. This is a video from some random town in Canada (does it really matter). The game was between the Nanaimo Timbermen and the Coquitlam Adanacs. It was an Inter A Lacrosse game. In total 15 players were suspended over the fight. Luckily no one was seriously injured.

Hey Look At My Belly

18 May

Disclaimer: DO NOT WATCH WHILE EATING. AVOID IF YOU ARE AN EASY PUKER.

I do have to say this is the best way I’ve seen to distract someone while playing. This Philadelphia 76er fan used his amazing belly to try to hypnotize Boston Celtics’ Kevin Garnett into missing a shot. I’m surprised it didn’t work, so were the announcers.

New! NBA Bracket

18 May

So as I preach all the time a true bracketer never stop bracketing. So I have updated my NBA Playoffs Bracket. As you can see my left side is looking pretty clean. I am still sticking with the Lakers to beat the Thunder. I realize that might not happen but I’m going out on limb. I originally hadn’t picked a overall winner but I have always felt it will be the Spurs.

I blame the craziness of the right side on injuries. Here’s the list so far of how injuries have messed with my bracket.

1. Chicago Bulls- They lost Derrick Rose in Game 1 of Round 1 against the 76ers. Then in Game 3 they lost  Joakim Noah so basically that sealed the deal.

2. Orlando Magic- I’m not sure why I thought the Magic could do this with Dwight Howard but I was obviously wrong. Howard never even made it to the post-season.

3. Miami Heat- Chris Bosh in Game 1 of Round 2 against the Pacers. I had hope that maybe they would pull this series off without him. It is obvious from Game 3 terrible loss that this is not the year for the Heat. It feels like Dwayne Wade is minutes away from being out due to injury too.

I have no excuse for picking the Hawks over the Celtics. In fact the Celtics have proved to me recently that I should never doubt them.

When Twitter Attacks

18 May

Back in the day before social media we would all just bitch to our friends about how much it sucked when a player missed that crucial shot. Now thanks to Twitter we can tell them directly. And unfortunately some crazies out there like to take it too far and threaten the athletes’ family. That’s what happened to Laker Steve Blake and his wife Kristen. Blake missed a potential game winning 3-pointer in Game 2 against the Thunder on Tuesday. Since then apparently Blake’s wife has received death threats on her Twitter account.

To whomever is death tweeting the Blake family- CHILL OUT. It was only Game 2. There is time for the Lakers to come back. All you have to do is believe in them and they will win (okay so that might not work but maybe it will help with your anger management issues).

Stories like this always make me wonder. If random player Steve Blake is getting death tweets, what does Dwayne Wade’s twitter account look like today?

Spurs Continue to Dominate, 105-88

18 May

The Los Angeles Clippers are merely a speed bump on the San Antonio Spurs way to the NBA Finals. At this point it just a matter of the Clippers losing with dignity. And if the Clippers are going to save face then they need to step-up because Thursday night’s game 2 was just sad. The Spurs sealed their 13th win by beating the Clippers, 105-88. Aside from having a better team the Spurs have had more resting time. They quickly killed the Utah Jazz in 4 games in Round 1 and had 8 days to prepare for the Clippers. Whereas the Clippers playing a grueling 7 games against the Memphis Grizzlies and had about 2 seconds to turn around for round 2. Not to mention Clipper Chris Paul is still fighting through injuries and barely able to score. Adding to the injury list is Blake Griffin who already had ankle problems and now has hip problems.

Paul scored 10 points for the Clippers Thursday night and Griffin managed 20 points. For the Spurs old man Tim Duncan scored 18 and Tony Parker had 22 points. Parker celebrated his 30th Birthday by beating the Clippers.  If the Spurs sweep the series at least the Clippers can be proud that they made it to the 2nd Round.

Heat Lose Again?

18 May

After the Indiana Pacers beat the Miami Heat in Game 2 it was obvious the Heat needed to make some adjustments. Without Chris Bosh they needed to find a new offensive strategy(aka. anyone else on the team that can score more than 5 points). But after the blow out in Game 3 on Thursday it is obvious that didn’t happen. If anything the Heat played worse than Game 2. The Pacers beat the Heat, 94-75. Now the Pacers lead the series 2-1. And that championship title is getting further and further away for LeBron James.

The Pacers have had a string of luck with opposing teams losing players. In Round 1 the Pacer easily beat the Orlando Magic who was missing superstar Dwight Howard. And the loss of Bosh obviously has thrown off the flow for the Heat. Game 3 was particularly bad because Dwayne Wade made only 5 points in 37 minutes of playing. It is now being revealed that Wade is suffering from leg and knee injuries. Wade being injured is nothing new, he missed 17 games this season due to injury.

Out of frustration Wade got in a fight with Heat coach Erik Spoelstra during the game. I think when you lose a crucial player like Bosh it really puts pressure on your coach to find a new strategy and obviously Spoelstra still hasn’t figured that out. Spolestra changed the starting line-up putting Shane Battier at power forward and using center Dexter PittmanJames scored 22 points for the Heat and had help from Mario Chalmers with 25 points.

The Pacers played more like team and that’s why they won. Roy Hibbert had 19 points and 18 rebounds. George Hill scored 20 and Danny Granger 17. And it’s looking like the Pacers are going to be upset team moving on, unless the Heat figure their shit out.
