Brunettes vs. Fake Blondes: For a Good Cause

15 May

This weekend to raise money to fight Alzheimer’s disease brunettes will take on fake blondes in a powder puff match till death in Houston, Texas. More than 500 people are expected to participate in the 7th Annual Blondes vs. Brunettes Powder Puff Football Game. Apparently if you are red head you are free agent and play for whichever team. The team that raises $75K wins the coin toss. I personally think there is no better way to raise money than to objectify women by hair types and have them battle one another. So far the organization behind the program has raised more than $100K so obviously this is a good idea. If you are interested in contributing just visit there site http://www.bvbhouston.org/.

At least these girls are doing it for a good cause unlike those bikini hockey chicks.

Kyrie Irving Rookie of the Year

15 May

Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers has earned the title of Rookie of the Year. Irving is a former Dukie and was the 1st round draft pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers. During his first season with the Cavaliers he  averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 assists. Even though the Cavaliers have been sucking it up, Irving has been playing great. Now if he could just get a good team around him, he might actually have an NBA career. At least for now he gets a nice trophy and a new Kia to drive.

What Would Happen if I Pitched

15 May

Korean superstar Jessica Jung dropped the threw the first pitch at a Korean baseball(Twins and Lions) but it didn’t go as planned. You must watch this video because it is both funny and sad. I imagine this is what it would look like if I attempted to throw the first pitch. I will give Jung props for having a cute outfit. If you are going to suck at something you might as well look good doing it.

Wifey is Always Right

15 May

I haven’t covered the Roger Clemens’ perjury trial up until now because it has been super boring. If you don’t believe me than just look at the fact that already two jurors have been excused for falling asleep during the trial. Clemens is on trial for lying to Congress back in 2008 about his performance-enhancing drugs use. If he is found guilty he could face 15 to 21 months in jail. If you don’t know Clemens he is one of the greatest pitchers of all times with 7 Cy Young Awards (given to annually to the best pitcher).

The trial just became more interesting with the testimony of Clemens’ former steroid injector strength trainer coach Brian McNamee. Apparently McNamee saved the waste from the steroid injections because his wife was afraid he would become the fall guy. Literally his wife nagged him so much that he finally decided to collect the steroid waste in a beer can. He then saved the waste in a Fedex package. Now the waste is the main evidence being used against Clemens. Proving that when your wife nags you should listen because who knows when you will be part of perjury trial. Of course Clemens is claiming that McNamee was steroid pusher but he never used them.

McNamee’s testimony made it sound like him and Clemens had some kind of secret affair. He described Clemens pulling down his pants and showing his butt then McNamee’s injected him. Clemens even had McNamee inject his wife Debbie. Apparently Debbie wanted to look awesome for a 2003 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition photo shoot with her husband.

76ers Beat Celtics, 82-81

15 May

To give credit to the Boston Celtics at least this game was close, 82-81. The 76ers came back Monday to tie the series 1-1. This is the 76ers first playoff win in Boston since 1982. 76er Evan Turner put them ahead with a lay-up with 40.4 seconds to go. The Celtics played a terrible 3rd quarter scoring only 11 points and entering the 4th quarter trailing by 8 points. Celtics’ Kevin Garnett tried to bring them back but just couldn’t do it. It didn’t help either that the Celtics couldn’t get a rebound to save their lives. Celtics’ Avery Bradley was also out most of the game because of a popped shoulder which definitely hurt their offense. Overall, it seems that the Celtics didn’t really see the 76ers as a real threat now they don’t have a choice. In order to survive this series they are going to have to start playing with the same force they did against Hawks towards the end.

Thunder Kill Lakers, 119-90

15 May

I don’t know if a word has been invented that is strong enough to convey what happened Monday night to the Lakers. If it weren’t controversial I would have said “rape” in the headline. The Thunder beat the Lakers in Game 1 of Round 2 by 119-90. That is the 4th largest deficit in the history of the Oklahoma City Thunder(including their Seattle days). This game was so bad that I think may Lakers fans are looking for support groups today.

The story on the Thunder side was Russell Westbrook who had 27 points and 9 assists. Since the two teams meet each other in the playoffs in 2010 Westbrook has grown as a player. Laker Kobe Bryant tried to put the stop to Westbrook’s scoring but didn’t have much luck. It was obvious there plan to slow Westbrook down by forcing him to take jump shot totally didn’t work. Then there was the Thunder’s Kevin Durant who despite having Metta World Peace on his ass managed to score 25 points. Bryant and Andrew Bynum each scored 20 points for the Lakers.

If the Lakers are going to have a chance at Game 2 then they need to find a way to shutdown Westbrook and Durant. Also Laker’s coach Mike Brown should know better than to be playing starters in the 4th quarter especially when it obvious there is no coming back.

PS

Despite there being a ton of build-up to the reuniting of World Peace and reserve James Harden after the elbow incident nothing happened. Fans booed World Peace and that was pretty much it.
