You’re Dumping Me for The Olympics

14 May

The Fastest Man in the World, Usain Bolt, is dumping his girlfriend of 6 months to focus on the London Olympics. Back in 2008 the Jamaican runner won three gold medals and broke the record in the 100-meter race. This is kind of fishy since just a couple of days ago a kissing photo of him and his former GF, fashion designer Lubica Slovak, caused some controversy in Jamaica. Apparently they are stuck in the 1950′s and  it is not cool there to have a white girlfriend. If you ask me it sounds like an excuse for not wanting to confront outdated prejudices. I have to hand it to him that the Olympics is a once in a lifetime excuse. If I were in the Olympics I would use it to get out of everything I didn’t want to do, kind of like how people use their children. “I’m sorry I can make it today, I have the Olympics this summer.”

Bolt is trying to beat his own record in the 100-meter race. But I guess Bolt didn’t do his research on the sex and athletic performance. Studies have shown that sex can actually improve your athletic performance (hear that Tim Tebow). If you don’t believe me check out this article in National Geographic.

So every girl that has ever been dumped by an athlete to screw other people “focus” on his sport can know that he is lying to you. And having sex with you might just have improved his career.

Heat Win But Lose Bosh

14 May

Could Lebron James’ life get any better? He just got his 3rd MVP trophy on Sunday and then the Miami Heat beat the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of Round 2,95-86. Better yet is anyone out there happy for James? It was a tough game with the Pacers being within 2 points of the Heat until the last 10 minutes. Chris Bosh played only the first half leaving the game due to abdominal injury. An MRI today revealed that Bosh strained his lower abdominal muscle and will be out indefinitely. On the bright side Bosh can spend sometime with his new baby on the bad side the Heat will miss him. James lived up to his MVP award scoring 32 points and getting 15 rebounds. It was James’ point late in the game that sealed the deal for the Heat. The fourth quarter was a sad time for the Pacers with Dwayne Wade and James scoring 20 straight points. For the Pacers moving forward it is about creating a more efficient offense. Meaning when the Pacers have the ball they need to be going for 3s, if they can’t do that then they need to increase their total number of possessions. Ultimately if you can’t score a tone of 3s then you need to make sure you are getting the ball more often.

Round 2, Game 2, Tues. 7:00pm EST.

Lakers & Clippers Moving On

14 May

There was no relaxing for Los Angeles NBA fans this weekend.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets (96-87)

In one of the best games of the Playoffs the Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets, 96-87. Usually the headline for a game like this would be something like, “Kobe blah blah wins game.” But instead Saturday’s game was a story of Pau Gasol (I knew there was a reason I liked him). Gasol was in need of some redemption after his poor performance in Game 6. Not only that but when you were on the bubble to be traded you need to prove that there is a reason they kept you. Gasol definitely earned his place with the Lakers with 23 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assist and 4 blocked shots.  Metta World Peace also came back with a bang(no not literally this time) he scored 15 points for the Lakers. It was an amazing game, with 6:30 left in the game Gasol broke the tie by tipping in the ball. From there the Lakers managed to hold the lead. If we can take anything away from this game it is that the Lakers have to be on their toes if they are going to have shot against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Round 2, Game 1: Lakers vs. Thunder, Mon. 9:30pm EST.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Memphis Grizzlies (82-72)

The Clippers managed to win their 3rd Playoff series in 41 years. For a second I thought it wasn’t going to happen. Usually Clippers games go like this there are doing okay for the first half then somehow in the second half the shit hits the fan. For example in Game 6 on Friday night the Clippers blew an 8-point lead in the 4th Quarter. The odds were stacked against the Clippers with Chris Paul having hip trouble and Blake Griffin having a sprained ankle. Luck for them the bench players really wanted to see round 2. Players like Kenyon Martin help the Clippers get ahead in the 4th by scoring 7 points. Paul scored 19 points despite his injury. The Grizzlies really needed help from their bench but just didn’t get it, the Clippers bench out scored them 41-11. For the Grizzlies next season it is going to be all about improving offense. In Game 7 they took too many risk by shooting 3s rather than getting the ball to the inside. Rudy Gay and Marc Gasol each had 19 for the Grizzlies. Now the Clippers will face more stiff competition against the San Antonio Spurs.

Round 2, Game 1: Clippers vs. Spurs, Tues. 9:30pm EST.
