Last night the NBA Playoffs were filled with surprises. What should have been a night of teams sealing the deal and moving on, turned out to be a night of prolonging round 1. (Maybe this will give Knicks fans some hope for tonight’s game)
Surprise #1: The Denver Nuggets Beat the LA Lakers (102-99)
The Lakers were hoping to seal the deal last night and defeat the Nuggets. Motivated by some strong words by Laker Center Andrew Bynum who described the game as an easy win, the Nuggets beat the Lakers, 102-99. Now the series is 3-2 with the Lakers in the lead. This means the Lakers will be taking a trip to Denver to play Game 6. Kobe Bryant brought his A game scoring 43 points. If only Bynum had the words to match his talk, he had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Which is nothing compared to Nuggets center, JaVale McGee, with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Game 6- Thurs. May 10th 10:30pm EST
Surprise #2: The Chicago Bulls Beat the Philadelphia 76ers (77-69)
This would not be a surprise if the Bulls still had Derrick Rose but without him they have been struggling. Everyone thought for sure that the 76ers would put them out of their misery last night. Instead the Bulls came back from the grave to beat the 76ers, 77-69. The Bulls built a good 9 point half time lead and just kept pushing. As a Duke fan it was good to see alum Carlos Boozer scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulls. And out of nowhere Luol Deng became a star and scored 24 points for the Bulls. I am still not sure if the Bulls are getting better or the 76ers are getting worse. The series is now 3-2, with the 76ers winning. Now we will see which team will claw there way into round 2.
Game 6- Thurs. May 10th 7:00pm EST
Surprise #3: The Atlanta Hawks Beat the Boston Celtics(87-86)
As they say this was a game for the Celtics to lose. What should have been a slam dunk turned into a scrappy battle till the end. The Hawks got their shit together long enough to beat the Celtics. Celtics Rajon Rondo tried to bring the Celtics back in the 3rd quarter by cutting down the Hawks lead to just 2 but they just couldn’t seal the deal. Now it is back to Boston for Game 6. Celtics lead the series, 3-2.
Game 6- Thurs. May 10th 8:00pm EST
