Is anyone old enough to remember when boxing was free? Since boxing moved to pay-per view and the cost continued to rise it seems like boxers have become more and more outlandish. Floyd Mayweather is definitely an example of this. He is out there constantly pretending proving he is bad boy asshole (not that he needs much help after being sentenced to jail time for domestic violence). There is so much shit coming out of Mayweather’s mouth that you forget that he is an amazing boxer.
This fight is not one to miss because it will be a great fight because it maybe Mayweather’s last. Mayweather will take on Miguel Cotto this Saturday at the MGM Grande in Las Vegas. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Mayweather will win. After all he is the bigger dog in this fight,he’s 5’9″ with a 72″ reach. Where Cotto is 5’7″ with a 67″ reach. Having a longer reach gives you an obvious advantage.
So why is Mayweather fighting someone he will obviously beat in what maybe his last fight? The answer is really simple. Mayweather is 35 and doesn’t want to risk his record his health to fight a real challenger like Manny Pacquiao. Originally this fight was supposed to be against Pacquiao but it fell apart when Mayweather refused to split the profits 50/50. It even got to the point where Pacquiao (who is scary built) agreed to be drug tested up until the fight, which is something Mayweather insisted on. It is kind of suspicious that “Money” Mayweather would quibble over a few million when he is worth an estimated $90 million dollars. It seems to me that Mayweather wanted to go out on a high note, preserving his 40 wins and 25 were knock-out record.
The real irony is that Mayweather will make all of this money off the fight and then be off to jail on June 1st to serve his time for threatening his baby mamma and their two children. Money can buy you a lot of things but it can’t get you out of jail quicker or can it?
