Stoudemire Out: Fire Extinguisher Wins

2 May

I don’t know who I feel worse for the Knicks or Knicks’ fans. If you thought, how could things get any worse for the New York Knicks. They are down two games in the series against the Miami Heat. Then after game two, Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire, gets angry and tries to free a fire extinguisher by punching the glass case. During the punching incident Stoudemire injured his hand.  If you haven’t seen ESPN’s in depth coverage where they show the glass case and like one drop of blood on the ground, you are missing quality investigative reporting. Due to surgery on his hand Stoudemire will miss game 3 and is doubtful to play in game 4.

Now Carmelo Anthony is going to have to really step-up and cover for Stoudemire being out. In the last game Anthony was already stepping up by scoring 30 points. I am not sure how much more Anthony can do. The Knicks are already missing guard Iman Shumpert who tore his ACL in game 1.

The last remaining hope for the Knicks is the possibility of Jeremy Lin making a return. Even then Lin returning is not going to help if the Knicks can’t keep the Heat from scoring. Unless the Knicks can defend the basket there is not much hope that they are going to make it.
