Another potential college educated athlete is taking his chances at the NBA. Ohio’s Jared Sullinger has decided that making it to the Final Four was good enough to end his college career on. I guess I have to applaud Sullinger for making two years rather than the Austin Rivers one and done. Sullinger actually improved a lot by staying an extra year(hint hint Rivers). This year Sullinger averaged 17.5 points, shot 52 percent from the field and 77 percent at the line. The game against Kansas did reveal some weakness in Sullinger as a center so it is hard to tell where he will end up in the NBA. With all the good college drop-out prospects this year it is going to be hard to squeeze into first round.
Colts Get Sneak Peak at Luck
4 AprAndrew Luck the hot new QB out of Stanford worked out with the Colts Tuesday. The Colts who have been lusting after Luck for a long time now will be using their number 1 draft pick to hopefully secure him. Luck has the makings to be Peyton Manning number 2. Everyone is basically foaming at the mouth when you even mention him. If he goes with the Colts he will be starting right away not needing a “mentor” type like Tim Tebow has now in Mark Sanchez. For Luck’s shake I hope he is ready to fill some giant shoes, $96 million dollar shoes to be exact.
NFL Gets New Uniforms: Can You See the Difference?
4 AprI can’t resist a good fashion meets football story. On Tuesday Nike revealed in a fashion show players standing around on astroturf in a Brooklyn studio modeling the new looks. As expected there were no drastic changes. I mean really did you think they were going to reinvent the wheel here? Apparently there is super secret innovations in the outfits that none of us can see. The new uniforms are lighter and stretcher than ever before. One team of the 32 did make out with a new look the Seattle Seahawks, which is pretty swanky. I have to say I am digging the neon green, it is very in this season.
Mets Beat Yankees?
4 AprI am happy write in my first baseball post that the Mets have triumphed over beat the Yankees Tuesday, 7-6 in spring training. Yes I realize we are still in pre-season so it doesn’t really count but still as a Mets fan I feel something like pride. Ike Davis had a walk-off home run in the ninth inning that sealed the deal. I know what you are thinking, pre-season or not how did this happen? How did the impossible become possible? Apparently the Yankees thought the Mets weren’t much competition and decided to do the game without Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, Robinson Cano, Mark Teixeira, and Mariano Rivera. Meaning the Mets beat the Yankees bench players. Apparently the real Yankees didn’t care about the Mets were too exhausted from playing the night before.
The sad thing is that Digital Domain Park in Florida were it was held charged way more for tickets thinking there would be some prime Yankee action. It was the first spring sellout for a Mets game and sadly because people wanted to see the Yankees. At least the one Mets fan in the audience got a good show.
